Modding the FCX24 Chevrolet K5 Blazer

The 1973 Chevrolet K5 Blazer's legendary status was the foundation for our approach to modding the FCX24 K5. Like the original, we wanted to capture the spirit of a classic squarebody 4x4 — a vehicle built on Chevrolet C/K truck DNA, combining rugged capability with a style that invites personalization. Its place alongside icons like the Ford Bronco and International Scout helped inspire mods that celebrate the K5's reputation as a go-anywhere machine with endless customization potential.

Capturing the K5’s Classic Character
The K5's unmistakable appearance guided every detail of our designs. From the bold grille and rectangular headlights to the raised stance, squared fenders, removable top, and pickup-inspired proportions, we focused on preserving the character that makes the original so beloved. Our goal was to enhance that classic Chevy presence while adding the scale details, accessories, and upgrades that reflect the creativity of the real-world K5 building community.

The Way Cool McCue: A Signature Build
While we’ve created many memorable K5 builds, from rugged patrol rigs to beach-ready daytrippers, one that continues to stand out is the Way Cool McCue. Created in collaboration with American 3D-print specialist William McCue, this build pushed the limits of scale detail with custom parts like a swing-out rear bumper with a spare tire mount and a fully detailed interior. We also teamed up with premium aftermarket specialist Batrazzi to equip the K5 with a full suite of high-quality aluminum upgrades, adding both performance and realism.
The combination of custom 3D-printed details, precision aftermarket components, and a bold, distinctive paint scheme became a defining formula for Fair RC Mods. The Way Cool McCue represented the creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that make the RC customization community so unique.

The K5 Spirit Lives On
More than just a capable 4x4, the Chevrolet K5 Blazer represents freedom, adventure, and adaptability. That same spirit is what inspired our approach to the FCX24 K5, using each mod to celebrate the possibilities of the original. Whether recreating a classic style, adding trail-ready upgrades, or creating something completely unique, the K5 remains a platform that encourages builders to make it their own.
