Few trucks have left a mark like the Chevrolet squarebody. Produced from 1973 to 1987, this vintage 4x4 remains one of the most recognizable and collectible trucks of its era, celebrated for its rugged character, timeless styling, and limitless customization options. Its appeal starts with the silhouette—a tall cab, flat panels, sharp lines, and a raised hood that make it instantly identifiable. The egg-crate grille, rectangular headlights, and squared-off front end give the K10 a tough, purposeful look that perfectly captures the spirit of a classic off-roader.

Bringing the Spirit to 1/18 Scale

When we set out to develop our FCX18 Chevrolet K10 (1978) builds, we focused on the same qualities that made the original iconic: a strong visual identity, functional design, and remarkable adaptability. The squarebody could be restored, lifted, worked, or shown, and we wanted our interpretation to carry that same versatility. Our aim was a fresh RTR platform, with modifications carefully chosen to reflect different styles and personalities. Each build tells its own story, rather than feeling like a standard modified model.

The Power of the Bed Conversion

The FCX18 K10’s removable bed design was a major highlight. While the stock fleetside bed already honors the original truck, replacing it opens a world of new possibilities. Just as full-size owners tailor their trucks for different uses, we created entirely new takes on the FCX18 by changing the bed—altering stance, proportions, profile, and trail performance. Some of our favorite builds feature a detailed flatbed conversion, which gives the truck a bolder, more aggressive look while lowering the rear center of gravity for better crawling stability. Others adopt a classic stepside bed, emphasizing a muscular vintage feel that pays homage to the squarebody’s heritage.

Every 3D-printed bed conversion was designed with both scale accuracy and real-world trail use in mind. These transformations have become some of our most beloved K10 builds, proving that even at 1/18 scale, one thoughtful change can completely redefine a truck's identity.
